Where to Eat in San Diego


Take advantage of San Diego's mild climate and dine al fresco, day and night, throughout Downtown's dynamic neighborhoods. As an alternate option, indoor dining is also offered with capacities limited to observe social distancing.

Gaslamp Quarter
Expanded patios and beautifully decorated parklets line the streets of the Gaslamp Quarter with over 50 restaurants and bars open for you to experience. Curbside Gaslamp enhances the outdoor shopping and dining ambiance with select streets closed to vehicular traffic Wednesday-Sunday to create a pedestrian promenade.
Little Italy
Prepare your taste buds for foodie-paradise! Some of the city's most critically acclaimed restaurants can be found in nearby Little Italy. Many have created chic street-side patios for al fresco dining while others, including Born & Raised and Kettner Exchange, offer romantic rooftop terraces to dine under the stars.
Waterfront Dining
Stroll to Seaport Village or the newly opened Portside Pier along the Downtown Embarcadero for San Diego bay views and outdoor dining options that range from quick service cafes to fine dining.
Beer Tasting in Downtown
Taste your way through San Diego's craft breweries, walking distance from our hotel. Wake up with weekend breakfast near the ballbark at Half Door Brewing Co, head to Little Italy for lunch with Bolt Brewery and Ballast Point both offering outdoor dining. Enjoy happy hour at Little Miss Brewing's front patio, and end your day at Quartyard, an outdoor container park with a craft beer garden.
Coronado Ferry Landing
Board the Flagship ferry at Downtown San Diego's Broadway Pier to ride the calm harbor waters to Coronado. Select one of the formal or casual restaurants at Ferry Landing to dine al fresco while admiring with the view of Downtown San Diego's sparkling skyline.
Liberty Station
This former Naval Training Center has been transformed into a lively destination for outdoor dining. Watch planes overhead from nearby San Diego International Airport while you savor dishes from one of the full service restaurants, including Stone Brewing World Bistro and Gardens, or each family member can pick a favorite to share from the Liberty Public Market.

Spend the Day at the San Diego Zoo and Balboa Park

Start your day at the San Diego Zoo, less than 10 minutes from the hotel, to see the animals in action. Tiger Trail provides welcome shade on a warm day, or meander through the Koalas to the Penguins from the Outback to Africa Rocks. Enjoy lunch at one of the Zoo's outdoor cafes before continuing your animal encounters with over 3,500 animals, or venture outside of the Zoo's gates to explore the stunning architecture and gardens of Balboa Park. Take a photo of the full booms at the Japanese Friendship Garden, and enjoy a freshly brewed selection from the Tea Pavilion or a craft cocktail at Panama 66.

Stay Active with Watersports

Ride the waves of the Pacific Ocean while surfing at one of San Diego's white sand beaches, or glide across the San Diego harbor on a stand up paddleboard or kayak. Prefer to stay dry? Take Me Out to the Ballgame

Baseball is back and The Westin San Diego Gaslamp Quarter is located a quick 10 minute walk away from Petco Park. Enjoy some of the best ballpark fare from popular local restaurants including Hodads, Buona Forchetta and Pizza Port, without missing a minute of the game via the new online ordering app and even in-seat beer delivery. Pre or post game, explore the East Village neighborhood surrounding the ballpark with bars, restaurants and breweries.

Sightsee by Bike or Trolley

See some of San Diego's iconic sights like the Gaslamp Quarter sign, Coronado Bridge, Petco Park and the Star of India with a complimentary bike rental for hotel guests, or on board the open-air Old Town Trolley. Create your own itinerary and explore each destination at your own pace. Make a stop at Seaport Village to dine and shop with discounts provided as part of the Destination Amenity Fee.

Make it a Schoolcation at USS Midway Museum and Cabrillo National Monument

San Diego offers a vast array of immersive, educational opportunities. Art enthusiasts can take a stroll along the Port of San Diego to admire free, self guided art tours en route to the USS Midway Museum where you can then learn about history and naval aviation. Take a recess break at Waterfront Park before heading to Cabrillo National Monument to see where the West Coast was first discovered in 1542, and experience the hands on marine science learning at the Tide Pools.

Tee Up for a Golf Getaway

San Diego's year-round warm weather and wide array of courses set against picturesque backdrops create a distinctive golf getaway. A short, 5 minute drive from our hotel will take you to Balboa Park Golf Course, featuring stunning views of Downtown and the Pacific Ocean along the 18-hole and 9-hole courses. Across the bridge, Coronado Golf Course offers sunrise to sunset play with harbor views along their par 72 course. Or, opt for the challenge of golfing like the pros at Torrey Pines, home of the PGA TOUR's Farmers Insurance Open and site of the 2021 U.S. Open.

Hike with Scenic Views

Downtown is the perfect starting point for a variety of hikes the whole family will enjoy, including some trails which also allow you to bring your canine companions. Navigate through varied terrains along the perimeter of dog-friendly Balboa Park, and through the Park's gardens, museums and natural beauty. The estimated 65 total miles of trails can be experienced in short 1 mile loops to longer 6 mile treks. To see San Diego from new heights, drive 20 minutes East of Downtown to dog-friendly Cowles Mountain. At the top of the 3-mile roundtrip trail you will be rewarded with panoramic views across the county to Mexico. 20 minutes North of Downtown provides yet another breathtaking vista via the cliff side trails of Torrey Pines State Reserve perched above the Pacific Ocean.
