Terrible Hotel.
I have stayed at this hotel each fall, give or take, for many years. My November 2018 stay will be my last.
This visit was unsatisfactory, from start to finish.
Upon arrival, I was informed that the hotel was now charging for parking ($10). (I don't recall a parking charge being part of the deal when I booked on-line several months ago.) So, instead of the usual greeting for a Platinum member ("points or treats?"), my check-in was devoted to understanding and completing the official piece of green paper that I needed to display on my windshield, in order not to be towed during the night.
The TV in the room was obsolete at least 10 years ago -- horrible picture, which didn't quite fit on the small screen, which was too dark. No way to adjust the picture quality, at least as far as I could determine.
The morning of my checkout, the usual paper bill did not appear under my door. So, I attempted to access the bill on the TV. Not on this TV. When I checked out at the reception desk (remember the old days when you used to check out at the reception desk), the clerk informed me that he could not provide a paper bill because the printer was out of paper. (He did promise to e-mail the bill, which was promptly received.)
All-in-all, an unsatisfactory experience, especially the surprise parking charge (at a Marriott Suites hotel! in suburban Albany, NY!!). I will not stay at this Marriott again.

Great staff and location
I liked the staff, Nick, Rocky, Jean Tia and Jesi. People make the difference because they care and it comes through in every aspect of the stay. Location is great, easy access to the city and surrounding area

They Need to Start Over
They need to start over. There is nothing redeeming about this facility.

Too expensive of a price for a college town hotel
I stayed at TownePlace Suites in the Albany University Area for two nights. I will say the staff was very accommodating and friendly. Unfortunately this is the only positive experience I had from this hotel. Both rooms I stayed in had an unpleasant odor in it that I feel could not have been resolved. The carpets and furniture in both rooms were stained. The beds and pillows in both rooms where extremely flat an uncomfortable. I came here for a business trip and chose to stay overnight due to my two and a half hour drive. I was lucky to have gotten roughly five hours total of interrupted sleep for both nights. Looking back now with the price it cost me to not be able to get a good nights sleep, I should have just driven to Albany both days.

Great Experience
The hotel was cleaned and comfortable. The staff was friendly, respectful and very professional. It felt more like I was at a friend's house instead of a hotel.

Impressive
I was pleasant surprised about the hotel. The location is great for university, not for tourists like us.
