Preston

Preston is the largest city in the county of Lancashire, England. Due to its historic role as a major port and industrial centre, Preston offers its visitors many opportunities to discover English heritage as well as the stunning surrounding countryside. As one of the first cities in the United Kingdom to see the industrial revolution, guests should head to the Ribble Steam Railway and marvel at or even ride steam trains and locomotives dating back over 100 years. Next, go further back in time at the Samlesbury Hall built during the 14th century. To learn a little more history and view classic art, head to the Harris Museum. In the afternoon, somethings to do in Preston include exploring the docks and marina for a view of the old port, boating around the harbour or enjoying a delicious fish and chip supper at a local pub. Once you’ve had your share of history, discover the surrounding countryside. Visitors can hike around the 160 miles of Guild Wheel footpaths, meet exotic birds at the Turbary Woods Owls and Birds of Prey Sanctuary or stroll through the Avenham Park. Families will also enjoy the Preston Spy Mission Treasure Trail and the Trampoline Park.
