Mexico City

Founded almost 700 years ago, Mexico City is one of the world’s largest cities. Each of its officially recognized boroughs has its own distinct personality that you’ll enjoy exploring from your Mexico City hotel room.

For example, Chapultepec is one of the largest parks in the world, enclosing a Spanish castle, two lakes and several museums, including the National Anthropological Museum, home of the famous Aztec calendar stone. The Centro area contains many historic buildings such as the Templo Mayor, site of the original Temple of Tenochtitlan, and the Metropolitan Cathedral, which took over 300 years to construct and is the largest in North America. To the north of your Mexico City accommodations is Polanco, featuring some of the finest boutiques and restaurants in the area.

For a truly unique tour of Mexico City, ask your hotel about packing a picnic for a trajinera boat ride through the Xochimilco canals, surrounded by mariachi boats playing Mexican melodies. The chinampas, or floating gardens, seen here date back to Aztec times. Nearby is the Villa de Guadalupe, site of the beloved Our Lady of Guadalupe shrine and Basilica, where a Catholic Mass can boast up to 40,000 attendees.
