Chile is a coastal and mountainous country that runs along the Pacific Ocean in South America. One of the first stops most visitors make is Santiago, the country's capital and home to many of the top Chile attractions. Here, guests can marvel at the beautiful colonial architecture of the Metropolitan Cathedral, learn about the history of the continent at the Chilean Museum of Pre-Columbian Art and look out over the impressive cityscape from St. Christopher’s Hilltop. From Santiago, visitors will have much to explore around the whole country. Head south to Valparaiso, the country’s main port and UNESCO World Heritage Site or explore the surrounding vineyards and ski resorts. Even further south, guests will find stunning rivers, the famous Patagonia, fjords, lakes, forests and the passageway to Antarctica. In the north, guests will find the San Pedro de Atacama desert, famous for its landscapes, the Andean highlands, with lakes and mountains, and archaeological sites, such as the Atacama Giant. If you are feeling really adventurous, then hop over to Easter Island, about a 5-hour flight from Santiago, and marvel at the mysterious Moai statues. Plus, don't forget to try Chilean empanadas and the famous crab pie called pastel de jaiba.
