Rewards Terms & Conditions

Elite Membership General

  1. Elite Membership is an exclusive privilege of Rewards Program Membership. All Program Rules for the Rewards Program apply to Elite Membership.

  2. The Rewards Program has the right to end the Elite recognition program (the “Elite Program” or the “Elite Membership Program”) by providing advance written notice to Members.

  3. Benefits of Elite Membership are reserved for Members only. As proof of eligibility, a Rewards Program Membership Number is required when making reservations.

  4. When using ExecuStay, every 3 nights stayed will entitle Members to 1 night toward Elite Membership status. Elite Membership benefits are not available at ExecuStay locations.

  5. When using Marriott Executive Apartments, every 3 nights stayed will entitle Members to 1 night toward Elite status. Elite benefits are not available at Marriott Executive Apartments locations.

  6. When booking a qualifying group, event or meeting with Rewarding Events, 10 Elite nights will be awarded to the Member along with the Points or Miles after the event has actualized at the property booked.

  7. The awarding of Rewards Program Elite Membership benefits are void where prohibited by law, and may vary outside the United States and Canada.

  8. Local policy may prevail over Rewards Program standards at hotels, and some Elite Membership benefits may not be available at some locations.

  9. The Company reserve the right to revoke, cancel or suspend a Member’s elite membership status (including Lifetime Silver, Lifetime Gold and Lifetime Platinum status), any Rewards Program Membership, Reward, and/or any and all unredeemed Points or Miles, or take other action at its discretion, at any time with immediate effect and without written notice, if Company believes the Member has (1) violated any of the Program Rules, (2) failed to pay any bills or accounts due to the Company or a participating hotel or any ownership related fees owed to Marriott Vacation Club, (3) acted in a manner inconsistent with applicable law, regulations or ordinances, (4) engaged in any misconduct or wrongdoing in connection with the Rewards Program, including without limitation, involving Point credit, Mile credit, Reward use, or Member benefits, or (5) engaged in abusive, fraudulent, inappropriate, or hostile conduct in connection with the Rewards Program, the participating hotels or their guests or employees, or the Company or its employees.

  10. Nothing in these Program Rules will limit Company from exercising any legal rights or remedies that it may have.

  11. The following locations do not provide Elite Membership benefits under the Elite Program: Renaissance Naruto Hotel and Renaissance Okinawa Resort.

  12. Participating locations outside the U.S. may provide alternative services and benefits to the Elite Membership benefits set forth in these Program Rules, depending on local law and policy.

Elite Membership Requirements

  1. Only nights personally stayed and individually billed at participating Marriott brand or Ritz-Carlton hotels are credited toward Elite Membership achievement and renewal. Accounts may not be combined to achieve Elite Membership.

  2. To achieve or renew Elite Membership status, the following number of personal nights must be earned through Rewarding Events or stayed at participating locations between January 1 and December 31 of any given year:

    Silver 10 to 49 nights
       
    Gold 50 to 74 nights
       
    Platinum 75 or more nights

  3. Reward certificate stays do not count toward Elite membership.

  4. Hotel charges without a personal overnight stay will not earn room night credit toward Elite membership.

Elite Membership Benefits at Participating Marriott Hotel Brands (Available to Elite Members of the Marriott Rewards Program and The Ritz-Carlton Rewards Program)

Platinum, Gold and Silver Membership Benefits:

  1. Bonuses on Rewards Program Points: Bonus Points vary by Elite Membership level (Silver, Gold or Platinum) and are calculated based on base Points earned during a stay. Available to Rewards Program Members at all participating Marriott brand hotels.

  2. Weekend Rate Discount: 10% discount on the regular room rate for Friday and Saturday night stays at participating Courtyard by Marriott and SpringHill Suites by Marriott locations. Rates vary from hotel to hotel. Weekend rate discounts are not valid with any other discount or on upgraded rooms at Courtyard by Marriott, and may not be available during certain special events.

  3. Marriott Gift Shop Discount: 10% discount on retail merchandise: Clothing, Gifts & Souvenirs, Imprints & Logo, Jewelry & Accessories, Facial & Bodycare Products. Discount is extended at participating Marriott-operated Gift Shops. Participating locations include: JW Marriott, Autograph Collection, Renaissance Hotels, Marriott Hotels & Resorts, Gaylord Hotels and Marriott Vacation Club locations. At EDITION hotels, 10% discount on branded merchandise only. (Membership Card must be presented to obtain discount.)

  4. The Ritz-Carlton Discount: 10% discount on The Ritz-Carlton branded merchandise, excluding sundries, purchased at The Ritz-Carlton Gift Shops on property (Membership Card must be presented to obtain discount).

  5. Priority Late Checkout: Based on availability, call the front desk the morning of checkout and let them know your planned departure time. Available at all Marriott brand hotels except Marriott Vacation Club.

  6. Elite Reservations Line: Exclusive reservations number available for Elite Members (U.S. and Canada only)

  8. The Ultimate Reservation Guarantee: To be eligible, Member's Rewards Program Membership Number and a valid credit card number must be included with the reservation. If hotel is unable to honor the reservation, it will pay for comparable accommodations nearby for the Elite Member that night, and compensate the Member for the inconvenience.

Additional Platinum and Gold Membership Benefits:

  1. Complimentary unlimited local phone calls at participating JW Marriott, Autograph Collection, Renaissance Hotels, Marriott Hotels & Resorts, Gaylord Hotels, Courtyard by Marriott, Fairfield Inn & Suites by Marriott and SpringHill Suites by Marriott locations in U.S. and Canada.

  2. Unlimited, domestic long distance phone calls at a low flat rate at U.S. and Canada locations. Available at participating JW Marriott, Autograph Collection, Renaissance Hotels, Marriott Hotels & Resorts, and Gaylord Hotels.

  3. Complimentary faxes, up to 15 pages per day, to any U.S. and Canada destination at participating U.S. and Canada Courtyard by Marriott, Fairfield Inn & Suites by Marriott and SpringHill Suites by Marriott locations.

  4. Guaranteed Concierge/Executive/Club Lounge Access* for Platinum and Gold Elite members plus one guest at JW Marriott®, Autograph Collection®, Renaissance® and Marriott® Hotels during normal hours of operations. Continental breakfast is available 7 days a week. For JW Marriott®, Autograph Collection®, Renaissance® and Marriott® Hotels in the U.S. and Canada: any time the Lounge isn’t open, Platinum and Gold Elite members are entitled to a choice of continental breakfast for two in the restaurant or 750 points daily. A limited number of hotels do not provide free continental breakfast in the hotel restaurant in the event the lounge is closed, but do offer 1,000 points in lieu of breakfast. These hotels include:

  5. Complimentary Room Upgrade: Based on room availability at check-in and limited to a Member's personal guestroom. Upgrades may include rooms with desirable views, rooms on high floors, corner rooms, rooms with special amenities, rooms on Executive Floors, or suites.  All upgrades are granted on a space-available basis, as determined at the time of check-in. Upgrades are subject to availability and identified by each hotel. Not available at Marriott Vacation Club.

  6. Free High-Speed Internet Access: Complimentary Internet access at all JW Marriott, Autograph Collection, Renaissance Hotels, AC Hotels, Marriott Hotels & Resorts, Gaylord Hotels, and Courtyard by Marriott (outside of U.S. & Canada only). Not available in meeting rooms.
    Free Premium Tiered Internet Access: Complimentary premium tiered Internet access is now available at participating Marriott hotel brands and The Ritz-Carlton hotels in the U.S. and Canada only. Not available in meeting rooms.

  7. Guaranteed Room Type: Guaranteed priority for your requested type of room. Subject to availability at participating locations worldwide when your qualifying Elite level and specific preference are noted on the reservation for your stay. (Pillow, room location, extra bed, crib requests, etc. are not included in Guarantee.) Outside U.S. and Canada: smoking/non-smoking preferences may also be given priority, based on availability; exact bed sizes may vary and only Platinum members will have guaranteed priority for your requested type of bed and room. Not available at Marriott Vacation Club.

Additional Platinum Membership Benefits:

  1. Guaranteed Platinum Arrival Gift: Platinum Members will receive a welcome amenity of 1000 bonus Points or 500 bonus Miles depending upon their earning preference once the qualifying stay has posted to the Member’s account.

  2. 48-hour Guaranteed Availability: Limited to a Platinum Member's personal guestroom. Guaranteed room availability for reservations booked at least 48 hours prior to arrival available at all participating Ritz-Carlton hotels. 48 Hour Guaranteed Availability may not be available on certain limited dates (e.g., special events). Benefit cannot be used in conjunction with award usage or any type of promotional or discounted rates.

  3. The Ultimate Reservation Guarantee: To be eligible, Member's Rewards Program Membership Number and a valid credit card number must be included with the reservation. If hotel is unable to honor the reservation, it will pay for comparable accommodations nearby for the Elite Member that night, and compensate the Member for the inconvenience.

Elite Benefits Guarantee at Participating Marriott Hotel Brands (for Members of the Marriott Rewards Program and The Ritz-Carlton Rewards Program)

Platinum, Gold and Silver Membership

  1. The maximum Elite Benefits Guarantee compensation paid to an Elite Member during a stay in the U.S. will be $200 USD, even if more than one guaranteed benefit is not delivered to the Elite Member. The maximum Elite Benefits Guarantee compensation paid to an Elite Member during a stay outside the U.S. will be the equivalent of $200 USD paid in local currency, even if more than one guaranteed benefit is not delivered to the Elite Member. If an Elite Member receives Ultimate Reservation Guarantee compensation, then he/she is not eligible to receive additional Elite Benefits Guarantee compensation.

  2. If an Elite Member believes that compensation is due with respect to any aspect of the Elite Benefits Guarantee, he/she must request payment of the compensation while still a guest at the hotel, prior to checking out. Failure to request such payment prior to check out will result in a complete waiver of any right to receive such compensation.

  3. In order to qualify for the Elite Benefits Guarantee, the Elite Member's Membership Number, Elite Membership status, and bed type preferences must be included with the reservation. Reservations made through meeting planners, travel agents, wholesalers or other third party sources must include this information in order to be included in the Guarantee.

  4. If an Elite Member has a confirmed reservation, but is relocated from the hotel upon arrival, the property will pay the Ultimate Reservation Guarantee compensation in place on that date under the Program Rules. If an Elite Member receives Ultimate Reservation Guarantee compensation, then he/she is not eligible to receive additional Elite Benefits Guarantee compensation.

Elite Members are eligible to receive the Room Type Guarantee at any JW Marriott, Autograph Collection, Renaissance Hotels, AC Hotels, Marriott Hotels & Resorts, Gaylord Hotels, Courtyard by Marriott, Fairfield Inn & Suites by Marriott, SpringHill Suites by Marriott, Residence Inn by Marriott and TownePlace Suites by Marriott property worldwide. Gold Members are eligible to receive the Room Type Guarantee at any participating U.S. and Canada hotels. Only Platinum members will be honored both room and bed type preferences at participating hotels outside the U.S. and Canada. (Pillow, room location, extra bed, crib requests, etc. requests are not included in the Guarantee.) Note that exact bed sizes may vary at hotels outside the U.S. and Canada.  Does not cover room upgrades.

    • An Elite Member who makes a reservation on the same day he/she plans to arrive at the hotel, or Elite Member who walks in to a hotel without a reservation is not eligible to receive the Room Type Guarantee

    • If hotel is unable to fulfill this Room Type Guarantee, Elite Members will be compensated (see below):

  6. Guaranteed Concierge/Executive/Club Lounge* access applies to regular hours of operation at JW Marriott, Autograph Collection, Renaissance Hotels and Marriott Hotels & Resorts worldwide. For JW Marriott, Autograph Collection, Renaissance Hotels, and Marriott Hotels & Resorts properties without a Concierge/Executive/Club Lounge, or if the Concierge/Executive/Club Lounge is closed during regular hours of operation, the Platinum and Gold members are entitled to receive a free continental breakfast, Monday through Friday; simply show Membership Card and room key in the hotel restaurant. Outside the U.S. and Canada, continental breakfast is offered 7 days a week. If Concierge/Executive/Club Lounge Access and complimentary continental breakfast is not offered, Elite Members will be compensated $100 USD for the inconvenience. Hotels outside the U.S. will pay the equivalent in local currency.

  8. Guests accompanying Elite Members to a participating Marriott brand hotel or Ritz-Carlton hotel are not eligible for the Elite Benefits Guarantee.

  9. The Guarantee applies to all stays, including Rewards Redemption stays.

  10. Elite Members who do not receive their Elite Benefits Guarantee or Ultimate Reservation Guarantee in Russia, any other country subject to currency restrictions or any country prohibited by law from compensating the Member in the form of a cash payment will be compensated with Rewards Program Points.

Elite Benefits Guarantee at The Ritz-Carlton Hotels (for Members of the Marriott Rewards Program and The Ritz-Carlton Rewards Program)

Platinum Membership

  1. The maximum Elite Benefits Guarantee compensation paid to a Platinum Member during a stay in the United States will be $200 USD, even if more than one Guaranteed benefit is not delivered to the Member. The maximum Elite Benefits Guarantee compensation paid to a Platinum Member during a stay outside the United States will be the equivalent of $200 USD paid in local currency, even if more than one Guaranteed benefit is not delivered to the Member.

  2. If an Elite Member believes that compensation is due with respect to any aspect of the Elite Benefits Guarantee, he/she must request payment of the compensation while still a guest at the hotel, prior to checking out. Failure to request such payment prior to check out will result in a complete waiver of any right to receive such compensation.

  3. Guaranteed Platinum Arrival Gift: Platinum Elite Members will receive a welcome amenity of 1000 bonus Points or 500 bonus Miles, depending upon their earning preference, once the qualifying stay has posted to the Platinum Elite Member’s account. Contact guest services if the benefit does not post on your account statement within two weeks of your stay.

  4. Guests accompanying Platinum Elite Members to a participating Ritz-Carlton hotel are not eligible for the Elite Benefits Guarantee.

  5. Platinum Elite Members who do not receive their Elite Benefits Guarantee or Ultimate Reservation Guarantee in Russia, any other country subject to currency restrictions, or any country prohibited by law from compensating the Platinum Elite Member in the form of a cash payment, will be compensated with Rewards Program bonus Points.

  6. If an Elite Member has a confirmed reservation, but is relocated from the hotel upon arrival, the property will pay the Ultimate Reservation Guarantee compensation in place on that date under the Program Rules. If a Platinum Elite Member receives Ultimate Reservation Guarantee compensation, then he/she is not eligible to receive additional Elite Benefits Guarantee compensation.

    • At the Ritz-Carlton: Alternative accommodations, plus $200 USD and 2 free room certificates. Hotels outside the U.S. and Canada will pay the equivalent in their local currency.
