The first and finest of all 13th century halls, with the greatest symbol of medieval mythology, Winchester Castle dates from the reign of William the Conqueror. Between 1222 and 1235 the Castle's hall was replaced by the building which stands today. The Hall reflected the preferences and tastes of Henry III. During his reign art, architecture and design became more refined and sophisticated. This trend was reflected in the Great Hall, conveniently located 30 minutes from the hotel in Winchester.
