Eclectic Options

Depending on the day you visit, you may find a performance of Hamlet, a fencing match, tai chi lessons or an exhibition of modern dance in Bryant Park. There are juggling, fly fishing and language classes, along with birding tours in the spring and fall, with a vast and unexpected variety of feathery visitors.

Bryant Park Location

Bryant Park is bordered by Fifth and Sixth Avenues and by 42nd and 40th Streets.

Wi-Fi Hot Spot

With Bryant Park being a Wi-Fi "hot spot," many visitors turn the surrounding beauty into a pastoral office.

New York Public Library

The New York Public Library, with more than 50 million items, dominates the eastern end of the park. Not visible to the eye is an underground structure that houses the library's archives and stretches all the way west to Sixth Avenue.

The library's famous pink marble lions are a perfect starting point for a tour of the park's remarkable collection of statues and fountains, featuring contributions from renowned sculptors from around the world.

Dining at Bryant Park

The Grill is perched on the park's upper terrace, directly behind the library and is open year-round. Reservations are suggested for the dining room, but not required for the outdoor patio and rooftop gardens.

The Bryant Park Café offers a more casual dining alternative from mid-April to November.

New York foodies find themselves drawn to the Southwest Porch outdoor bar and grill, and the many food kiosks around the park, offering everything from steel cut oatmeal, grilled cheese, and tuna with fennel on a baguette, to soups, salads and house-made granola.

What's Your Game?

A pair of ping-pong tables are located at the northwest corner of the park, with paddles and balls available free of charge. Just sign up with a park attendant to reserve a time slot.

The classic French game of Pétanque can be played on the gravel area not far from the ping-pong tables.

For a more cerebral challenge, check out the chess and backgammon boards at the 40th Street Plaza. Attendants are happy to make available more than 35 tabletop games of all kinds to help you enjoy your day in the park.

Top it all off with a ride on the park's carousel named Le Carrousel, and designed to complement the park's French classical style.
